There Is Drama In
Neighbours After All
There was real-life drama on the set of Neighbours when
police were called to an incident on the set last week.
A regular extra, who has not been named, became distressed and behaved
erratically during filming, cutting her wrist with a glass and smashing
props while shooting a scene in the set of Charlie's Bar.
Executive producer Susan Bower told an Australian newspaper: "It was a bit
of a shock - one of our regular extras wasn't really feeling the best and
started behaving in an extraordinary way.
"She was very distressed and swung her hand and knocked a glass off a
table."
Filming was reportedly cancelled for the day and cast and crew were removed
from the set.
Producer Neal Kingston said: "We were concerned for the welfare of everyone
and removed all cast and crew until the police arrived to assess the
situation.
"She broke a couple of items so we cleared the situation to make sure
everyone was OK and waited for authorities to arrive.
"She was assisted by police and went willingly outside with them.
"The ambulance came and took her to hospital and, from our understanding,
her injury was successfully treated."
Neighbours have reportedly been in touch with the extra's family to check on
her, and filming returned to normal on Monday.

Coronation Street Actress Depression
Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard revealed today she
has been receiving treatment for a nervous breakdown and depression.
The actress, who plays Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald, was absent from
the soap for five months last year. Viewers were told Liz had jetted to
Spain to stay with her son Andy.
But Callard’s disappearance from Weatherfield was today revealed to be as a
result of a “serious breakdown” for which she received treatment in the
Priory Clinic, a spokeswoman said.
The actress, who is still being treated as an outpatient and is said to be
“well on the road to recovery”, has teamed up with mental health charity
Mind to raise awareness of mental health issues and depression.
She said: “I have been speaking to the mental health charity Mind about
lending my support to the work they do – I feel it is really important to
try and help lift the stigma that makes life so difficult for the one in
four people who experience mental health problems.”
Callard thanked her friends, family and colleagues for their support and the
media for respecting her privacy during her illness.
She said: “Being able to recover out of the media spotlight has hugely
helped me and meant that I could return to work last year whilst still
receiving treatment as an outpatient. Now I feel able to speak about what I
went through and thank everyone for their support.”
A spokeswoman for 'Coronation Street' said: “Everyone at ITV has been behind
Beverley through this very difficult time. We are extremely proud of the
huge progress she has made and delighted that she is back on screen at the
centre of the show and we continue to support her.”

Tess Daly
Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has said that her
marriage to fellow TV host Vernon Kay is "worth fighting" for.
Daly spoke on TV about her husband for the first time since he admitted
sending explicit texts to five women.
Speaking on the BBC's One Show, Daly said: "It's been tough as you can
imagine, but I've taken some time out to think things through."
Kay recently admitted on his radio show that he had been "foolish and
selfish".
Daly, 40, who married Kay in 2003, said: "At the end of the day we've had 10
great years together, we've got two beautiful kids and we both think that's
worth fighting for.
"Dealing with it in private is difficult enough but dealing but with it in
public is even harder.
"I've had so much support from everyone that I meet really, not just family
and friends, that has really touched me a lot and has been amazing," she
added.
Earlier this month the celebrity couple made their first official appearance
together since the revelations when they attended a Prince's Trust award
ceremony.

Cost Of
TV Licence Fee Goes Up
The television licence fee is to go up to £145, the
Government has confirmed.
Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw laid a Parliamentary order to approve the £3
increase for next month - a rise of about two per cent. The rise highlights
that the BBC is continuing to receive increased funding despite its recent
announcement of cuts to some projects such as BBC 6 Music and the Asian
Network.
The Department for Culture Media and Sport pointed out that the January CPI
inflation figure stood at 3.5 per cent and so the rise was actually below
the increase in the cost of living. However, critics believe that at a time
of impending cuts to government departments, the funding is still too
generous.
The licence fee increase is the latest in a six-year series of rises
approved in January 2007 to guarantee the long-term funding of the
corporation.
Last year, the Tories said they would freeze the fee because the two per
cent rise was above inflation. Today, in a marked change of tone, they said
that they didn't want to get into an annual commentary on the rise because
that would undermine the independence of the BBC. Mr Bradshaw recently said
that although the current six-year £3.6 billion funding deal should be
honoured, there was "good reason" to have a wide-ranging debate on the
future of the fee.
