Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt in Coronation Street, has become the latest cast member to announce she is leaving the show.

The actress, who joined the ITV soap as Sarah Platt's daughter in 2015, will depart when her contract ends in 2020.

She won the prizes for best actress and best female dramatic performance at last year's British Soap Awards.

In the past week, Faye Brookes (Kate Connor) and Tristan Gemmill (Robert Preston) have both broken similar news.

On Thursday, it was reported that Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker, is also set to end her time on the show.

Second Series For The Bay

ITV has today announced the commission of a second series of the Morecambe based drama following the series finale.

Written by award-winning writer and playwright Daragh Carville, The Bay achieved consolidated audiences of 7 million viewers with a share of 27% across six episodes.

Set in the coastal town of Morecambe, The Bay stars Morven as police Family Liaison Officer, DS Lisa Armstrong and Daniel playing DI Tony Manning.

The second series has been commissioned by ITVs Head of Drama, Polly Hill who said: I am delighted with the audience response to The Bay.  Its very real and beautifully made by everyone involved, and as a result it held an audience of 7 million across 6 weeks.  I think that audience will enjoy seeing where Daragh takes Lisa and the team, when they return with a new case for series 2 next year.

The second series will begin filming later this year with further casting news to be announced closer to production.
