Filming for next year's Britain's Got Talent, which began on Tuesday 15 October, has been postponed following the news of Liam Payne's death.

The former One Direction star, who was teamed up with his bandmates by BGT judge Simon Cowell on The X Factor, died on Wednesday 16 October after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

BGT auditions were set to take place in Blackpool today (Thursday 17 October), with Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI on the judging panel, but they have now been postponed.

Production company Fremantle UK announced the news in a statement, with a spokesperson saying: "Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, we have decided to postpone the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. Our thoughts are with Liam’s friends, family and all who loved him."
