Tik Tok Christmas

Some ITV viewers were left disappointed by the broadcaster’s Christmas Eve offerings with complaints the platform has ‘given up’.

Rather than showing a Christmas classic movie, ITV opted to show a two-hour special of the best TikToks of the year.

TikTok: Top 100’s synopsis read: “A countdown of the top 100 funniest, most extreme and rudest viral videos of 2024 from TikTok and other social media platforms. Plus, an estimation of how much money the clips made for their creators.”

Fans were less than impressed by this compilation show and took to social media to complain.

"What on earth are ITV doing with this TikTok thing? Is this what Christmas TV has become?!?!" said ChrisSigsworth.

"ITV are currently entertaining the masses with a glorified TikTok compilation video from YouTube… yikes," said JoshM_Jones.

"Christmas Eve primetime on ITV is Top 100 TikTok’s 2024 #WeAreFinished," said UKRobBoxing.

"Christmas Eve primetime TV. Worst broadcasting decision ITV have ever made I fear," said superTV247.

"ITV have thrown in the towel with TV, counting down 100 videos on TikTok. Yeah, I have no idea either," said OllyVanGaal.

"I’m all for Tiktok but really!! A whole 100 countdown of them could have shoved a wee Christmas film on or something, ITV," said DanielleAtSix

The show was narrated by Joel Dommett, best known for hosting I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, The Masked Singer, and The Masked Dancer.

The comedian explained some of the biggest trends on TikTok and the startling statistics showing how many people engaged with some of the most popular videos of the year.
